Gen. Michael Flynn sued the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under its purview over the two agencies’ malicious prosecution of him, demanding at least $50 million in compensation.
“Defendant maliciously investigated and prosecuted Gen. Flynn by initiating and continuing a baseless counter-intelligence investigation and by filing a criminal information lacking probable cause,” according to the complaint filed March 3 at the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The suit added that the FBI and the prosecutors from the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller targeted him for political reasons.
The complaint described Flynn as a “hand-on disruptor” at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) “who had publicly excoriated the politicization of the intelligence community.” Flynn had also expressed his “desire to overhaul the national security structure and the ‘inter-agency process.'”
However, Flynn’s actions made him a threat to “the self-interest of entrenched intelligence bureaucracies and the federal officials involved [in the] prior and ongoing efforts to derail and discredit [former] President [Donald] Trump.”
The suit also accused the government of abusing the legal process by coercing Flynn into a plea by threatening prosecution of his son as well as by targeting him with baseless probes and charges. The charges followed reports of the former national security advisor allegedly lying about conversations he had with Russian diplomat Sergey Kislyak in 2017. Former Trump campaign photographer-turned-program host Gene Ho announced Flynn’s filing of the suit on his program “About GEORGE with Gene Ho,” adding that most mainstream media sources have not reported on the move.
“This is a timely, precise and important filing for all Americans. This level of corruption and undermining of our rule of law cannot stand,” said Flynn’s tweet which was read by Ho. The former Trump official also thanked attorney Jesse Binnall of the Binnall Law Group in the tweet for his firm’s assistance
“Notice what he says here: The key word is ‘precise and important filing for all Americans,'” said Ho, who is also a close friend of Flynn. The host also pointed out that the suit’s filing was timed alongside Republican lawmakers gaining the majority in the House of Representatives – ensuring that GOP members get chairmanships in key committees.
Aside from this, Ho mentioned the recent move by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)– chairman of the House Judiciary Committee – to look into a long list of accusations against the FBI. Jordan already sent several subpoenas for this purpose, he added.
“When the Republicans gained the House back, the Jan. 6 Select Committee disappeared. Now, Jordan started this new select committee, basically on DOJ and FBI weaponization of their departments.”
The photographer stressed that both Trump and Flynn are students of great generals, who don’t make their attacks under fire. “They make it when they are clear to proceed. Now, what they’re doing is the Deep State is retreating, reloading and or out of bullets,” he said. “This timing is just amazing.”
